ÒWee WondertreeÓ kindergarten program: Wondertree Learning Centre gives children the opportunity to create their own curriculum based on their interests and their desire to learn.  Based on this premise, we offer an innovative, child-centred kindergarten program. Our kindergarten program operates Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9:30-2:30, with a mentor-learner ratio of no greater than 1:12. In our small and nurturing environment, children are provided with opportunities for experiential learning via field-trips and special visitors, and emergent curriculum focusing on the interests and needs of the group.  There is ample opportunity for play while capitalizing on childrenÕs innate curiosity and excitement about the world around them.  The learners are exposed to a variety of learning situations to help them develop leadership skills, creative approaches to problem solving and the ability to cooperate with peers.  One of the main aims of our kindergarten program is to foster the development of a strong sense of self and respect among other learners and mentors.  All this and we have lots of FUN!! Some highlights of the kindergarten programÉ - a morning gathering  (Òcheck inÓ) to start each day - individualized Òlearning plansÓ for each learner - lots of baking and cooking - a homelike environment where the children each snacks and lunch with their learning consultant in a relaxed and non-hurried fashion - free journal writing and drawing - ample opportunity for art - singing and music - dress up and pretend play - Òhands onÓ science - outings and mentors - celebration of our changes and our growth (Òbirthday booksÓ, tooth charts etc.) - play, play, play!
